I was born in Fukushima prefecture, Japan. After working for several renowned magazines as a contributing writer / editor in Tokyo, I moved to the UK in 2008. There I received a M.A. in cultural entrepreneurship at Goldsmiths College, University of London.

After four years in the U.K., I moved back to Japan and started working as a private travel guide, as well as contributing to magazines mainly writing about restaurants, shopping, and the culture and history of Tokyo. I obtained a national license as an interpreter tour guide.

I love visiting shrines and temples, ramen noodles, and onsens (hot springs)!

Yanaka Morning Tour with a Licensed Guide in Tokyo

Yanaka Morning Tour with a Licensed Guide in Tokyo I enjoyed very much the tour with Hiroko. We started at Ueno park, went through Yanaka district small streets, Yanaka cemetery, and finally Yanaka Ginza street with many little traditional shops. Hiroko is very knowledgeable about the area and showed me a neighbourhood which I did not imagine to find in Tokyo. It feels like you are in a different town, back in time. Quiet streets, beautiful temples, old wooden houses, traditional shops, a relaxing environment. It is so different from the busy Tokyo, and when you finish the tour, your feel like you were in a different world! Thank you Hiroko!
