Tsukiji Fish Market is a place designed for food professionals and was not originally intended for tourism. Be vigilant of the busy forklifts and carts working from the early hours of the morning. We also strongly recommend casual clothing and comfortable shoes for your safety.

- Groups larger than 5 people will be split into 2 groups.
- Please do not bring strollers or luggage to the market, as the passageways are very narrow.
- Your tour may be a group tour with other guests. We will always inform you prior to the tour.
- If you have a child please let me know in advance.
- You don't need to pay for lunch for the guide.

Nice to meet you, I am Kiyoshi. After graduating from university, I worked in the Hotel and Food & Beverage industry for many years. Thanks to those years of experience, I am now well acquainted with the Japanese food industry. I am a licensed guide in Japan, and would love to take travelers to explore Tsukiji market.

great tour with a generous guide

to get the fullest experience of tsukiji, it is worth paying for a local guide. we were very happy to have made the decision to go with Kiyoshi. he speaks good English and knows the sprawling place like the back of his hand. he was able to help us avoid the crazy queues too. we especially enjoyed the vegetable and fruit auction which no guide book I know described. it was money well spent! thank you, Kiyoshi.

Definately recommended! Tour guide friendly and knowledgeable.

    Amazing experience!

Our guide Kiyoshi was kind, attentive and extremely knowledgeable. We enjoyed getting a behind the scenes look at the vegetable auction, fish market and outer markets. He recommended a great place for our sushi breakfast, and was also kind enough to buy us coffee. You can do the market alone but with all the rules and inner workings, it's a much more interesting experience with a guide.

Highly recommend this tour. Kiyoshi is a great tour guide, and we could enjoy the vegetable auction which was amazing!

Kiyoshi was friendly, knowledgeable and courteous!

This is my first time in Japan and I knew a trip to Tsukiji Market was something I needed to do. Kiyoshi was extremely prompt and courteous in his replies to me and made meeting with him at the market very easy with a simple map. We watched a few vegetable auctions, (remember you need to line up at 3:00 to get a spot for the tuna auction) and toured the market while Kiyoshi shared his knowledge of the market and Japanese culture. In fact, my favorite part may have been Kiyoshi explaining all of the various samples I ate ranging fro Benito flakes to octopus to crickets. We walked around the many stalls around the market and visited a Shinto shrine on the premises as well. Finally, once the wholesalers fish portion of the market was open we got a chance to walk around and see artisans clean and process dozens of types of fish including enormous tuna! Overall a very fun morning and I would recommend Kiyoshi to anyone visiting the market.

    Amazing experience at the market

We had an amazing experience with Kiyoshi who was very knowledgable and made the experience something very special. This is a must see location we ate very lucky that we got to see it before it moves to its new location. I highly recommend taking a tour and it is worth the early rise to get to experience this location and the action of the market.

    The guide really makes it.

We visited the vegetable auction as a later morning alternative to the tuna auction. We were not disappointed. The vegetable auction was full of energy as people vied to purchased a variety of japanese vegetables. Our guide was amazing. He was able to tell us what the vegetables were and provide a lot of history and context to what we were seeing. I don’t think there was a question we had that he didn’t answer. We then were shown to different sushi restaurants and ate at one that had our guide’s recommendation. Again we were not disappointed. Our guide showed us around the different stalls containing knives, lacquerware, and food. He had a love of Bonito and took every opportunity to sample it. Finally our guide showed us around the fish market and again was able to answer questions and point out interesting things we may have missed. It would have been exhausting to go to the tuna auction and the fish market, as the fish market doesn’t open to the public until 10am – although of course, a good guide can get you in a bit early ;)
By doing this tour we were able to experience the life of the auction and the fish market in reasonable time and got to a broader exposure to Tokyo’s food scene.

    Essential Tour Around the Market

Kiyoshi was a great guide and a genuine bloke! My wife and i had a great tour and was good that we had him as our guide so we didn't over step any boundaries in an unknown territory. The security is very strict and you wouldn't want to get kicked out!

    Great personalized experience!

Worth the time and money. The 3.5 hour tour is plenty of time and you see a lot. The tour guide was friendly and answered all of our questions. He even translated for us when purchasing goods from the market. He recommended a sushi place which was excellent food. His English is perfect, he does have an accent as he is from Japan and most people do.

Great way to start a trip in Tokyo!

This was a great tour. Kiyoshi was very responsive and easy to find when we got to the fish market. He showed us around the vegetable market, explained the vegetable auction, and then dropped us to a sushi/sashimi breakfast place around 730am which was delicious. When he picked us up again, we walked around the surrounding streets to look at the the shops, it was great having someone who knew where to go where to avoid. This being the first stop for our week vacation in Tokyo, it was a nice tour to get our feet wet. Later on we went into the fish market, it was cool, but similar to other markets if you've seen others, they were pretty strict on no pictures and going in at a certain time but Kiyoshi made sure we were first in line so we didn't have to wait. By the time we left there was a line wrapped around the corner! Overall, I recommend this tour, Kiyoshi was easy to understand and it was nice having a guide for the market, it probably would be very confusing without him!
