Night Surfing at Keramas Beach in Bali is a sport that challenges and thrills surfers from around the world. Surfing in the day is difficult enough when you can actually see the waves coming in. Think you're a proficient surfer? Now, time to try surfing at night! This is the only night surfing facility in the world - made possible thanks to the installation of 2 stadium floodlights that help provide light for a distance of 500m, and allows you to see your fellow surfers around you. Experienced night surfers say that night surfing so surreal, like surfing in a dream-like fantasy. Everything is dark despite the light provided from the floodlights and you must really be able to feel the wave as if you were surfing blindfolded. But feeling the wind in your face as you manage to catch a 4 foot wave in darkness is simply electrifying! You are invited for a free warm up session at around 5pm to test the waves at Keramas beach before the actual night surfing. The lifeguard will give a briefing about the conditions for the night, and you will need to sign an indemnity form. After which, there are 3 sessions of 1h night surfing that you can select, usually between 7pm-10pm depending on the tide for the day. There are 3 lifeguards on duty to ensure safety and give advice at all times, however they are not instructors. A maximum of 6 people will be allowed to surf at one session. Be careful of sea urchins in the water as Keramas beach lies atop a sharp volcanic reef. Night surfing is only encouraged for intermediate to advanced surfers. Beginner surfers are free to try night surfing, but do take note of the risks involved. You are free to bring your own surfboard or rent a short surfboard from our shed. Family & friends of the surfers can enjoy the pool and beachside mattresses at the beach club while watching your surfer friend ride the waves during this spectacular night surfing!
