1-Day Tour in Nagano: Snow Monkeys, Zenkoji Temple and Sake

1-Day Tour in Nagano: Snow Monkeys, Zenkoji Temple and Sake First of all, the guide, Eva is the best! She is funny, friendly and very knowledgeable! She met us at the Nagano Station and whisked us off to a waiting van that drive us to the snow monkey park. This is a must see! The monkeys are so used to people that they just walk right by! After walking to the Onsen to see the monkeys bathe, we came back to the restaurant and had a great lunch! Then we were off to see the Zenkoji Temple followed by sake tasting! Eva’s knowledge of all the history of the temple was so interesting. My adult children enjoyed the sake tasting! Haha. I would highly recommend joining Eva on this tour!

1-Day Tour in Nagano: Snow Monkeys, Zenkoji Temple and Sake

1-Day Tour in Nagano: Snow Monkeys, Zenkoji Temple and Sake We had a fantastic time on this tour with our amazing guide, Eva! Eva was fluent in English and Japanese, which made our tour so much more interactive with the locals. Walking to the snow monkey park in the peak of winter ( Jan4th) was magical, but you must wear full snow boots as it is very slippery and wet. Another must for this trip is to go into the tunnel under the temple; this was amazing! Altogether a fantastic trip :)

1-Day Tour in Nagano: Snow Monkeys, Zenkoji Temple and Sake

1-Day Tour in Nagano: Snow Monkeys, Zenkoji Temple and Sake This was the best value for money during our entire trip in Japan. Keiren and Peter were great tour guides. The food at lunch was amazing. Zenkoji was epic. But the snow monkeys were beyond belief. You need to go see them.

Hire a Professional Photographer for Family Photos in Tokyo

Hire a Professional Photographer for Family Photos in Tokyo My family was in Tokyo to celebrate my father's 70th birthday and we were looking for a photographer in a pinch. Naoko was extremely experienced, professional and kind. She was also a joy to work with and immediately put everyone at ease! She was full of energy and suggested many cute & funny poses. We had great time with her and are very happy with how the photos turned out :) Thank you Naoko!

Buy Suica Card—Japan's Most Convenient Prepaid E-Money Card

Buy Suica Card—Japan's Most Convenient Prepaid E-Money Card Picked this up at the airport after exiting arrivals restricted area. Just outside the gate at one of the counters nearby, easy to find following the instructions. Once you get the card, you just need to top it up at one of the ticket machines outside of any train station gate. All machines have English option so you can understand the steps very easy. It's pretty expensive to transit on JR and metro lines in Japan, so for 14 days I added a total of 12800 yen to the card and literally used it all. So make sure you include a transit amount in your budget if you get this card. But if you don't travel between stations a lot then you'll probably use it less. We walked mostly in Osaka, but traveled between stations a lot in Tokyo.

Book Tickets for Events in Japan!

Book Tickets for Events in Japan! I attended the Summer Koshien (national high school baseball tournament) finals. As someone much more familiar with baseball in North America, I can say it was a pretty unique experience. The high school baseball tournament is widely followed in Japan. In some ways, its popularity is similar to that of March Madness college basketball in the US.

Voyagin arranged for my ticket through a third party. It was delivered to my hotel before I arrived, and they provided a map and a translation of of my seat details. Thanks Voyagin for making this really easy!
