Explore the samurai legacy of Nagoya with a private guide

Explore the samurai legacy of Nagoya with a private guide The itinerary was fairly typical at the key sites but some aspects of the tour may not appeal to all. The little detour to the arcade for some photo-booth fun was interesting but may not appeal to the older traveller. Mayuko-san is an energetic guide who speaks English fairly well but on our trip, she was fairly busy typing away on her phone on many an occasion - some may find this unprofessional, but if you consider it as a day trip with a friend, you probably won't mind so much. The day pass on the subway is a great little bonus and is helpful for local travel for the rest of the day on the subway lines (where your JR pass is moot). On the whole it was alright and I'd recommend it to anyone who'd like an English speaking local guide to show you around.

Taste the Delights of Japanese Beer on a Beer Factory Tour

Taste the Delights of Japanese Beer on a Beer Factory Tour Kirin has been my favorite Japanese beer for years, being able to see one of their breweries was amazing. Our tour guide spoke great english, and had no trouble translating the tour for us. The free beers at the end are worth the trip, they even had a stout on tap!

Enjoy a Furoshiki Class with Shopping Experience in Nagoya

Enjoy a Furoshiki Class with Shopping Experience in Nagoya The experience begun with meeting the host. She was really nice and spoke excellent English. Then we went, with our host, to a hidden furoshiki shop where we got some information about the furoshiki and could pick and buy the fabrics we liked. This is something we particularly enjoyed about the experience, as it gives you the opportunity to choose a colour or pattern that you really like. After that we went to a hostel/café where we had the furushiki-class and learned how to wrap different objects with the beautiful cloth. Another positive aspect was that it was a private-class for just us. We can really recommend it!

Explore the Way of the Samurai in Kiyosu, near Nagoya

Explore the Way of the Samurai in Kiyosu, near Nagoya Took my 2 boys to Nagoya for a few days and their favourite part of the trip was the Samurai Experience. Our guide, Meiko San, was a very sweet lady and made it a very pleasant experience for us. Kiyosu is only 10 minutes away from Nagoya station and everything in Kiyosu is walkable distance. I was 6 months pregnant and it wasn't tough for me at all. We also visited the samurai workshop and my boys got to watch how they make each piece of a samurai armour. In the end, the Kirin Beer factory was fun as well. Although none of us could drink beer, they do serve other none alcoholic drinks. It was a day very well spent!! I would recommend everyone to join this tour. Especially fun for boys, old and young... :P

Attend Nagoya's Sumo Tournament with a guide

Attend Nagoya's Sumo Tournament with a guide The host organised this really well and went beyond the call of duty to provide excellent customer service. The sumo tournament is so unusual that having a guide was a real bonus.
