If you're looking to experience the handicrafts, family culture, and spirituality that Bali is most famous far, this is a fun afternoon trip for the whole family. We depart at approximately 2 to 3 pm (depending on where your hotel is). Our first stop will be at Batubulan Village, which is very popular for its traditional Batik-making process and its stone carving. Batik is both an art and a craft, which is becoming more popular and well-known in the West. The art of decorating cloth in this way, using wax and dye, has been practiced for centuries in Indonesia and this stop will have you appreciate the workmanship of these amazing craftsmen. Next, we continue onto Celuk Village , which is known as the village of Silver Smiths in Bali. Here, you can bring your own designs or work with expert craftsmen to create a wearable silver souvenir. The family compound is a place of love, duty and respect in Bali, where everyone works to maintain the Balinese way of life and culture. In order to better understand how the Balinese community interact, I will bring you to Batuan Village to explore a Balinese Traditional compound and its famous village temple called Pura Desa Batuan - an ancient village temple often considered the best village temple in Bali. By visiting this temple, you will start to better understand how the Balinese weave their religion and culture together. Our second last stop is to Mas Village near Ubud - the center of wood carving in Bali, to watch the experts at work. We finish our evening at Ubud centre, where we settle into Ubud Palace to watch an evening traditional dance performance, complete with live gamelan music.
