Studio Ghibli Museum Tickets—Preorder & Last-Minute Tickets It Was a great activity to participate in, as I’m a big fan of Ghibli animation. The only downside was that all the text at the attractions was set in Japanese. Still a fantastic activity!

Exclusive Private Ryoanji Temple Insider Tour

Exclusive Private Ryoanji Temple Insider Tour I have been to Ryoanji Temple many times, but this time on a guided tour, I gained a new appreciation for it. As a person who never really thinks about history, learning about Ryoanji’s past and the background really helped me to feel the history of the place. I lost count the number of times a said “wow”! It was a very special experience, one that I wholeheartedly recommend for others, looking for a new way to appreciate Kyoto.

Exclusive Private Ryoanji Temple Insider Tour

Exclusive Private Ryoanji Temple Insider Tour I have been to Ryoanji several times in my 15years in Japan. I have always enjoyed it; it is beautiful and very peaceful. I never thought about it in any other terms, that is until my last visit! We met a guide, from the temple who proceeded to show us around the more restricted areas and explain about the history and relevance of certain pieces of art. To say it was interesting is something of an understatement. I love history, so to hear about when and how Ryoanji started was an eye opener for me. And, more pertinent, was the explanation of the temple, which is usually off limits to tourists. Whenever I have visited Ryoanji in the past, I merely thought of it as a rock garden and little more. It is easy to overlook the fact that it is first and foremost a temple; a place of worship. Upon entering the temple section of the building, I was immediately filled with a sense of awe. I am not a religious person, however it was hard not to be moved by what we saw. Lining the walls on the passage way to the ‘altar’ for want of a better word, were the memorials for past temple parishioners. The way they had been memorialized was quite moving. This was a place if deep, intimate meaning for the locals, and it is easy to overlook this as a regular tourist. It was an honor and a privilege to be privy to such an important place, and for anyone with an appreciation of history and culture, it will be well worth the visit.

Learn How to Draw Japanese Manga

Learn How to Draw Japanese Manga I had an enjoyable time and Nao sensei was very patient with me despite exceeding the time. It was interesting learning about the manga-making process and also about the manga industry in Japan. Nao sensei taught me how to draw more dynamic poses, ink my drawings with a G-pen and apply screentones. She is very approachable and warm. I'd love to join her class again!

    Studio Ghibli Museum Tickets—Preorder & Last-Minute Tickets

Studio Ghibli Museum Tickets—Preorder & Last-Minute Tickets I highly recommend the Ghibli Museum to anyone who is even familiar with Studio Ghibli - the museum is so beautiful and different. GoVoyagin made it so easy to purchase and collect my tickets and their employees are so nice! The first time I went to Japan I bought tickets from a different site which turned out to be a scam, there sadly are many of those, so if you want to buy tickets I recommend GoVoyagin!
