Tsukiji Tuna Auction Tour with a Guide during the night

Tsukiji Tuna Auction Tour with a Guide during the night The tuna auction was cool and walking around the market was fun but having a guide was pretty useless and a large waste of money. My guide had virtually no knowledge of the history of the market, the seafood industry, tuna, etc. - based on other reviews that's why I signed up (people said their guides were very knowledgeable of the history, were very experienced with the market, etc.).

Our guide was very kind and personable - nothing against her - she just didn't really add much value when it comes to the market, how fish are bid on, where the fish are sourced from, different species, etc.

Other friends who visit Tokyo I will suggest they just go to the market by themselves and further I'm going to suggest people avoid Voyagin as the cost / benefit is simply not there. In all the traveling I've done globally, this was one of the more expensive guides and really only for a few hours of walking around pointing out different vegetables outside of the fish market. I met a fellow traveler who did a tour with another company - his guide had worked at the market for over 20 years! He said it was great because his guide knew everything - not the case here...

Customize and Enjoy a Private Half-day Tour in Tokyo!

Customize and Enjoy a Private Half-day Tour in Tokyo! My husband, baby, and I had a fantastic time touring with Chika-san in Yakata and Ueno area. She was very kind, flexible, and knowledgeable about many topics! We visited Nezu Shrine, Yanaka Cemetery, and Ueno Park. We also got to stop by two amazimg stationary shops, a sweets shop, and had coffee at the park. She listened closely to my requests and made the perfect plan for us. We even had a great conversation about literature! Even though we were traveling with our infant, Chika made the tour enjoyable for all of us and was very helpful and kind. We had a great tour and hope to tour again with her in the future!

    Private Tokyo Tsukiji Market Tour

Private Tokyo Tsukiji Market Tour Our guide Kiyoshi was kind, attentive and extremely knowledgeable. We enjoyed getting a behind the scenes look at the vegetable auction, fish market and outer markets. He recommended a great place for our sushi breakfast, and was also kind enough to buy us coffee. You can do the market alone but with all the rules and inner workings, it's a much more interesting experience with a guide.

    Restaurant Reservation Service in Tokyo

Restaurant Reservation Service in Tokyo Such a great lunch full of surprise at Sushi Morita. The 82 years old head chef Mr. Morita Nobuo is serving us impressive and unique Kyushu Mae Sushi (九州前寿司).

Using the ingredients from Kyushu, every piece of sushi the chef will squeeze Kabosu (Japanese citrus カボス) juice on top to make the taste fresh. The chef good at using different combinations of ingredients to make sushi creative. Such as sea urchin and flying fish roe on squid sushi, abalone sushi with abalone liver on top.

As a foreign customer, you won't feel uncomfortable, the atmosphere is relax and the chef is a very kind person. If you don't understand what kind of sushi you eat, the chef will ask his wife to show you a card with the ingredient's name writen by English, Japanese and Kanji (漢字).

Lunch time the restaurant offers 8,000 yen or 10,000 yen Omakase (Chef's choice set), i choose 10,000 yen set which including 20 pieces of sushi. After all, i ordered 2 more pieces per person, end up the total price is 24,330 yen. Good price with outstanding quality.

Worth to try and i will thinking of come back again.

    Private Tokyo Tsukiji Market Tour

Private Tokyo Tsukiji Market Tour This is my first time in Japan and I knew a trip to Tsukiji Market was something I needed to do. Kiyoshi was extremely prompt and courteous in his replies to me and made meeting with him at the market very easy with a simple map. We watched a few vegetable auctions, (remember you need to line up at 3:00 to get a spot for the tuna auction) and toured the market while Kiyoshi shared his knowledge of the market and Japanese culture. In fact, my favorite part may have been Kiyoshi explaining all of the various samples I ate ranging fro Benito flakes to octopus to crickets. We walked around the many stalls around the market and visited a Shinto shrine on the premises as well. Finally, once the wholesalers fish portion of the market was open we got a chance to walk around and see artisans clean and process dozens of types of fish including enormous tuna! Overall a very fun morning and I would recommend Kiyoshi to anyone visiting the market.

Tsukiji Tuna Auction Tour with a Guide during the night

Tsukiji Tuna Auction Tour with a Guide during the night To see the auction is a wonderful experience but you really don't need a guide for this. Nobu was very nice but did not add any value to the experience

    Private Tokyo Tsukiji Market Tour

Private Tokyo Tsukiji Market Tour We had an amazing experience with Kiyoshi who was very knowledgable and made the experience something very special. This is a must see location we ate very lucky that we got to see it before it moves to its new location. I highly recommend taking a tour and it is worth the early rise to get to experience this location and the action of the market.
