1-Day Tour in Nagano: Snow Monkeys, Zenkoji Temple and Sake

1-Day Tour in Nagano: Snow Monkeys, Zenkoji Temple and Sake Had an absolutely incredible time on this day tour. Our tour guide was super friendly and down to Earth. We learnt a lot about Buhdism in Japanese culture and got to experience so much in just one day!

1-Day Tour in Nagano: Snow Monkeys, Zenkoji Temple and Sake

1-Day Tour in Nagano: Snow Monkeys, Zenkoji Temple and Sake What a great day! Our host, Fred was fantastic! I couldn’t have asked for a better host! The experience of seeing the Monkeys up close, was a definitely a highlight of my trip to Japan. Lunch was delicious, and finishing the day with the Zenkoji Temple and Sake tasting, topped off a great day! I would definitely recommend this tour!

Enjoy Japanese seasonal foods and culture at Yokoya farm

Enjoy Japanese seasonal foods and culture at Yokoya farm Ken and Asuka are young and friendly hosts who provide a fantastic opportunity to experience the real lifestyle of local people in the Japanese countryside. This activity isn't about touristy sightseeing, but about learning how ordinary Japanese people live and interacting with them. The hosts are very hospitable and offer free pick-up/drop-off service. What you do at their home depends on the season: we did mochi pounding and cooking because that's exactly what Japanese people do at the end of December. Overall a very recommended experience if you have a couple of spare hours in Matsumoto city!

1-Day Tour in Nagano: Snow Monkeys, Zenkoji Temple and Sake

1-Day Tour in Nagano: Snow Monkeys, Zenkoji Temple and Sake This was probably the best day of my trip to Japan. I got the shinkansen for Tokyo and was met by my guide Sjaak at Nagona station. We got on a local train which passed through the most beautiful countryside to a small village where a car was waiting to drive us up to the Snow Monkey Park. On the way we pass a Ryokan which was the inspiration for the in featured in Ghibli's Spirited Away, one of my favourite films. I would have been delighted just seeing that but we carried on until we got to the park where we walked through the most amazing forest I've ever seen to the area where the monkeys are. This was such an amazing experience for me, you can get up really close and the day I was there there were quite a few to be seen. After stopping for the we got another train to Zenkoji, a stunning Seen Temple which was great to explore before getting a local bus back to Nagona station where the tour ended. I highly recommend this tour, a real wow moment of my whole trip

Day Tour to See Japan Snow Monkeys in Nagano's Hot Spring

Day Tour to See Japan Snow Monkeys in Nagano's Hot Spring Naoko was an awesome guide. Our train was late and we could not reach her but she waited for the next train which we did make.
We had a wonderful time at the Snow Monkey Park after which we went shopping. I bought my grandson something very special and could not carry it with me on the airplane so Naoko helped me package it and get it in the post.
Her help was invaluable. I will look her up if I get the chance to return and will recommend her to anyone going there.
