10% OFF Authentic Kyoto Samurai Experience

10% OFF Authentic Kyoto Samurai Experience We did the class with only 3 of us, so it was a really intimate experience. The teacher, Elle, and the assistant were all hands on and eager to ensure we get the best samurai experience they have on offer.

We started with a short history of the house, where Elle spoke about how the property was more than 250 years old and was owned by a Samurai who worked at Nijo Castle during the Edo period. It really set the mood knowing there is so much history in our surroundings at that moment.

The demonstration was surreal and we can tell that the teacher really knew his stuff. He took a lot of care handling the katana sword, showing it respect everytime he laid his hands on them.

I'm glad I was able to slice off my bamboo when it was my turn to wield the sword.

We also had tea and some zen meditation. It was an hour and a half of going back in time.

Definitely recommend this experience for anyone who wants to do something unique in Kyoto, away from the crowds.

10% OFF Authentic Kyoto Samurai Experience

10% OFF Authentic Kyoto Samurai Experience Recommended by a good friend I was not to be disappointed!

A warm welcome from Elle awaited as I stepped through the door of one of the remaining original Samurai houses, built almost 200 years ago and still owned by the same family. It was living history to walk through the rooms and to see at first-hand the original fittings and paintings.

Masata and his sister spent the morning instructing me on the finer detail of Samurai music, Zen meditation and understanding the Kitana. An impressive display of swordsmanship led to my own instruction, which has left a distinct and lasting impression on me.

A chance to experience this fascination and rich cultural tradition - I greatly enjoyed my visit and came away a wiser man.

Book an exclusive private dinner with a maiko in Kyoto

Book an exclusive private dinner with a maiko in Kyoto To celebrate my fiance's birthday, I wanted something very exceptional. So I booked there because it is very exclusive!
My expectation was very high and I was not disappointed.
We really enjoyed the cultural exchange with the maikos, we learned a lot about them. Thanks to our guide to translate and respect our conversation with them.
We also appreciate the visit of "Okaasan" who served us the most tasteful sake we ever drinked! We saw a dance and listened shamisen, we also played some funny games with them. We laughed a lot. We highly recommand this experience and also we wanted to say thank you to everybody and mostly to M. Sawada for opening this experience to people from other countries.

Make your own Samurai Knife with a Certified Swordsmith!

Make your own Samurai Knife with a Certified Swordsmith! My boyfriend watched a lot of forging videos on youtube that's why I wanted to give him the opportunity to try to forge his own Japanese knife.
Every steps has his own interest, from the heating to the forging and sharpening. We also had a good meal at noon. Taro explained us very well about everything we asked (job...), he helped us when we needed it, his team is very kind as well. We had a good time with them. Taro picks us at the train station so it is easy to go at the forge.

    Once again thank you Taro&Co!

Make your own Samurai Knife with a Certified Swordsmith!

Make your own Samurai Knife with a Certified Swordsmith! Such a great experience! It's a rare treat for a Japan government certified swordsmith to teach the ways of blacksmithing and even get to come home with a super cool knife you've forged yourself! I had zero experience with a forge beforehand and learned a lot through all the steps. The team was super nice and great too. Everyone is super patient and helpful as you're learning your skills. The Japanese style lunch was delicious too! If you're considering this class, I'd say just go for it. Well worth it and now I have a good base knowledge to continue this new pursuit when I return to the US. I took the class less than a week ago and already have plans with friends to build a mini forge. Big thanks to Taro and team!
