Make your own Samurai Knife with a Certified Swordsmith!

Make your own Samurai Knife with a Certified Swordsmith! Taro and his wife were excellent hosts. Taro shared a lot of his craft with me and the end result was great. His wife prepared the biggest Japanesemeal I have ever eaten! If you like the idea of having a go at forging, try this experience.

Enjoy an Authentic Tea Ceremony Experience in Kyoto

Enjoy an Authentic Tea Ceremony Experience in Kyoto I came with average expectations, i thought it would be very traditional maybe a little dull and stiff but its the authentic experience i wanted.
However it was neither dull or stiff. It was beautifully graceful. The time went fast and I felt relaxed after the experience, it reminded me to slow down in my own life and feel the beauty that every movement is capable of offering. Thank guys!

Learn to Play the Taiko drum in Tokyo!

Learn to Play the Taiko drum in Tokyo! I was amazed by a Taiko performance during my visit to Yasaka Shrine before. The strong beats and the sense of unity were so impressive that I was moved to tears. Since then, I had always wanted to play Taiko and felt it with my soul... This class gave me exactly what I wanted!

Master Miyauchi is a friendly, encouraging and funny teacher. I am weak at playing instruments without score but under his inspiring teaching, I was able to complete several beats and a wonderful piece named “Kairaku” with his regular class students. Together with the dance-like postures, I was in high spirit throughout the lesson. It was so much fun!

The regular class students were very nice and welcoming. Their performances were great and full of enthusiasm. I want to be one of them too!

This class is one of my most memorable experiences! I hope I will have the chance to attend it again with my father who also has keen interest of playing Taiko.

Make your own Samurai Knife with a Certified Swordsmith!

Make your own Samurai Knife with a Certified Swordsmith! I had the best time! Taro is a great instructor! His english is very good and he is very knowledgable about forging steel. He gives you the creative freedom to create any shape you'd like, and he and his team will guide and help you through the whole process. I went with his signature snake tail. The whole setting including lunch felt very traditional. I loved everything about it (except the natto =P). I recommend this workshop to anyone visiting the Tokyo/Kyoto area.
