설명

My friend Pak Dewa will take you on a tour of his village community, where you can join in the daily activities as well as learn about traditional Balinese agricultural techniques and taste “Jamu” - the Indonesian elixir of life. We start the day by joining Pak Dewa at his village temples as he teaches us about the important act of placing offerings every day before he can start work. We then wander through his village community garden where we'll see some villagers standing in the muddy paddies planting rice. We can jump in and have fun helping them. We continue on and arrive at the old foundations of Dewa's grandmas house where his auntie and wife have prepared morning tea for us! Dewa teaches us how to make a traditional medicine called "Jamu " and his wife demonstrates how to weave coconut palm leaves in to various intricate woven palm leaf parcels that we will use as part of our Balinese cooking class. We sit and sip the rich home-made Bali coffee in the shade of a papaya plantation and chat about Balinese daily life and culture. After a relaxing morning tea we wander back through the village and return to my restaurant Bali Asli (see the amazing view in our pictures). At Bali Asli you will learn about the local produce used to make medicines, offerings and how it is also used in traditional cooking techniques, and of course guided through the steps to create an authentic Balinese lunch.
