Aizu is living in history. In comparison, Kyoto is more like a type of museum. I strongly recommended going to Aizu to see the history of Japan being very much alive. In particular, Sazae-do pagoda was very unique!Harataki Ryokan was also quite comfortable. The staff was very friendly.
Wow, I am SO glad I booked this tour. I'm not even sure where to begin...our guides were amazing, the shopping was fantastic, the sights were beautiful and interesting, and the food was delicious. Also - we were in the local newspaper! It was printed after we left Aizu, but a resident of Aizu MAILED IT TO US IN TOKYO! It was so very kind. Really, I don't think anything like this will ever happen to us again. I would definitely recommend going to Aizu and getting a guided tour. This was the first tour like this there and I think it went very well, but I can only imagine they will improve with practice. The Tōhoku region is totally worth visiting, especially Aizu. :)=
