Japanese Paper Making with Local Materials in Hinode, Tokyo

Japanese Paper Making with Local Materials in Hinode, Tokyo I wasn't really sure what to expect, but everything exceeded my expectations. Pick up and drop off at the station was smooth and convenient. It was nice to get out of the city and see what a smaller town looks like. The hosts were kind and great at explaining what to do.

We got step by step instructions on how the paper is made and got to try our hand at each of the steps. From scrapping off bark from bits of tree, pumping well water, to paper dying. We even got to see the trees that eventually ended up as our paper.

Everyone left with 3 different souvenirs of the day. A paper-wrapped electronic candle using pre-made paper, a self-made plain white paper, and a self-made colored paper. The self-made papers were still damp but were well wrapped and instructions provided for how to care for the paper until dry. Had a great time. Would love to be able to try it out again someday.

Duel with Sumo Wrestlers and Eat Chanko Nabe in Tokyo

Duel with Sumo Wrestlers and Eat Chanko Nabe in Tokyo It was great to get an understanding of sumo life. The pair of wrestlers demonstrated matches. Audience challenged sumo wrestlers. Food was what sumo wrestlers eat. They answered a lot of audience’s questions. Tons of fun!

    Authentic Kyoto Samurai Experience

Authentic Kyoto Samurai Experience This was probably the highlight of our Japan holiday. The young man who lead us was extremely knowledgeable and delivered the tour in a very interesting and inspiring manner. He had our full attention for the complete 2 hours. Highly recommend this tour.
