In this activity, we'll explore Meghalaya. Meghalaya is a land of indigenous tribes with diverse cultures, beliefs and costumes, consisting of the Khasi, the Jaintia, and the Garo Hills. The Khasi and Jaintia Hills form the central and eastern part of Meghalaya and are higher in elevation than the Garo Hills. These hills are full of limestone deposits. These slopes also get more rainfall annually than anywhere else in the world. All these factors come together to make for ideal conditions for cave formation. In this exploratory trip, we'll learn the basics of caving – or spelunking – and begin to explore the state's limestone caves. We'll also hike the historic David Scott trail, snorkel and dive in one of the clearest rivers in the world, as well as visit the double decker root bridge, the only one of it's kind in the world. Come join us as we explore this diverse and magical land. We will be joined by a team of expert cavers from the region who have spent their lives exploring the area. A team of guides, with mountaineering and first aid certifications, will also accompany you.
