Originally from Australia, with a penchant for travel, I (Liza) am passionate about leaving the environment and community in a better condition than when we arrived! It's not just about low-impact, It's about positive impact travel. 30 minutes and a world away from the bustle of Bali's commercial tourism, lies Nusa Penida Island. With her mysterious local history, deep traditional culture and magnificent natural wilderness, the Nusa Penida experience is for those who seek a spiritual and environmentally conscious travel experience. I fell in love here, as I'm sure you will too.

Traditional Weaving Tour with Master Weavers on Nusa Penida

Traditional Weaving Tour with Master Weavers on Nusa Penida I had the amazing opportunity to experience this tour with Kim, Liza and Wayan recently and I can honestly say this trip was life changing for me. The island, the people and the learning all wove together to create an experience I will never forget. The hosts were fun, considerate and very down to earth. The accommodation is lovely and the food was beautiful and authentic. If you get the chance to do this tour go for it, you won't regret it!

Swim with Manta Rays & Snorkel Safari (1 day)

Swim with Manta Rays & Snorkel Safari (1 day) My partner and I recently travelled to Bali for our 3 year anniversary. We booked this tour to swim with the Manta Rays. Our day started with us meeting the tour guide, Wayan Suryanta (a very friendly and knowledgeable Nusa Penida local) he took us on the ferry ride from Sanur to Nusa Panida Island. We were then transferred to a traditional fishing boat and made our way along the craggy cliffs and clear water to Manta Ray bay. We jumped out of the boat and instantly spotted multitudes of majestic Rays. What impressed me was the size of the Rays and the grace in which they seemed to glide or almost fly though the water. It was thrilling to be so close to these curious creatures and to have them come towards you and swim underneath you so close that you could reach out and touch them.

Next on the tour we went to Gamat Bay, where we had the opportunity to jump out of the boat and feed the fish. There was a sense of wonderment as the bread dissolved in our hands we were engulfed in a swarm of hundreds of brightly coloured tropical fish.

We then stopped at Crystal Bay which, as the name indicates, has crystal clear water and an abundance of tropical fish. At this stop Wayan took us into the temple (located on the beach front) and shared some of the islands spiritual history. We then snorkelled through the coral reef in the calm clear waters of Crystal Bay. After Crystal bay we had a delicious lunch at Warung Pondok which is located on the ocean with the amazing view of the seaweed farms and Bali’s Mount Batur.

This was an amazing tour that I recommend to everyone, I will never forget the feeling of swimming with the huge peaceful Manta Rays or the incredible snorkelling conditions of Crystal Bay.

Traditional Weaving Tour with Master Weavers on Nusa Penida

Traditional Weaving Tour with Master Weavers on Nusa Penida Such a blessing to be involved in the Weaving Connections trip to Nusa Penida!
Days were filled with fun and creativity as we sat with local weavers, practicing ancient techniques of creation.
During the week we were presented with a lovely balance of weaving workshops paced out in relaxed island style.
We were witnesses to traditional cultural and spiritual practices as island life carried on around us, while the warm natures of the weaving teachers and their families made us feel very welcome.
The perfect adventure for anyone interested in learning traditional Indonesian weaving techniques or simply wanting a taste of traditional island life.
Our family left feeling enriched and inspired.

Swim with Manta Rays & Snorkel Safari (1 day)

Swim with Manta Rays & Snorkel Safari (1 day) Awesome experience, best part of our trip to Bali. Small little group (4 of us) with our guide Wayan. He took us around to all the best spots and kept us away from all the big commercial tourist companys that were crowding other areas. The lunch they provide is awesome authentic Balinese food. Swimming with the manta rays was one of the best experiences of my life so far, and I won't forget it. Thanks Liza and Wayan, from Lisa and Luke

Swim with Manta Rays & Snorkel Safari (1 day)

Swim with Manta Rays & Snorkel Safari (1 day) I had an amazing time snorkelling in the reefs! It looked like a gigantic aquarium! The staff were really nice, they took us to the best spots for snorkelling. Where we had lunch had an amazing view and the food was really good too! This was the highlight of my trip!
