Hi there,

I'm Shumi, a Japanese guy who speaks Japanese and English.
I had lived in Vancouver, Canada and Copenhagen, Denmark for one year each.

I love traveling, playing football, eating, and drinking. I'm happy to meet new people from outside of Japan and would love to take you to deep local areas around Tokyo, where is only local people know.

Also I would like to introduce amazing Japanese traditional cultures.
There are many beautiful traditional places in countryside of Japan, I can take you there.

I hope you will enjoy Tokyo, Japan.

Explore a traditional old town near Tokyo

Explore a traditional old town near Tokyo Having just arrived in Tokyo I was looking for a tour that would deviate from the usual, and I would get to see another side of Japan. Shumi's tour began with an easy pick up in the morning and then a 2 hour drive out to Ibaraki with some nice stops along the way and a chance to a explore beautiful old town. The indigo dye was fascintating - an old tradition in Ibaraki. We were able to dye our own cloth and keep it as a souvenir. Shumi had arranged a fantastic lunch and afterwards to an old sake brewery, and one of the most important in the area. I see sake in a different light now after the brewery tour, and the tasting of a variety of sakes. The tour of Ibaraki ended with a visit to a beautiful hilltop shrine that overlooked Ibaraki and, in the distance, Tokyo. With a sunset that enhanced all kinds of love feelings for Japan it was a great way to finish the tour with Shumi. He's a wonderful guide! A local with a passion for the area. I would recommend to anyone.

Explore Stylish Shops in Shibuya & Aoyama with a Local Guide

Explore Stylish Shops in Shibuya & Aoyama with a Local Guide This was one of my favorite tours on govoyagin because I love shopping and have always wanted to visit Japan to see the new fashion trends and buy clothes. Shumi really helped me out because it was my first morning in Japan, and he rearranged his schedule to meet me and take me shopping - it was truly great and helpful to have him there to take me on this tour or I would've been completely lost navigating the big city of Tokyo! First, Shumi was a very nice and goodhearted person, taking the time to teach me Japanese culture and how shops work. The great thing about the tour was that Shumi knows his stuff - he knows all the special select boutique shops that are off the main path, and also knows the boutiques that are very popular. We went to so many different shops that had wonderful and cool styles, and Shumi helped me out with his input on what looked good and what doesn't, and how much an item costs because at times tags can be confusing. At the last part of the tour, Shumi took me to another cool place in Aoyama and I got to see more fabulous stores not just on the inside, but also on the outside because of their amazing architecture (ex: prada). I can truly saw this tour was a wonderful and helpful experience for my first day in Japan and highly recommend anyone who loves to shop to go on this tour!

Chill with a local guide in Nakameguro, a hidden cozy area

Chill with a local guide in Nakameguro, a hidden cozy area Shumi made my first day in Tokyo a delight and set the tone for the rest of my trip. Although it was raining on the day of my tour, I wanted to keep my appointment and he was able to accommodate my schedule. It turned out to be a lovely afternoon. I found him very easy to talk to and we discussed a variety of topics as we wound our way through Nakameguro. He was also kind enough to offer recommendations for the rest of my Tokyo trip. The highlight for me was ending it at a cozy tea house that I would've never found on my own. Would definitely recommend.
