20% OFF Mt. Batur Volcano Sunrise Trek / Private Path Hike

20% OFF Mt. Batur Volcano Sunrise Trek / Private Path Hike We booked our trip last minute and was worried that it wouldn't be what we hoped it to be. But it was absolutely beyond what we expected. We were picked up by our driver Komang exactly at the agreed upon time (1:20AM) from the Seminyak area. He contacted us the night previous to confirm pick up time and location via WhatsApp, which was very convenient. From there we went on to pick up 3 other hikers and on to the base camp at the foot of Mt. Batur in Toyabungkah. We were greeted by our guide Adi, with a delicious cup of coffee, a water bottle to carry up and a flashlight. We started our trek at approx. 4AM at which time the only light we had was the moonlight andour flashlights. Adi was a great guide. He was knowledgeable and professional. He constantly checked in with the group to ensure everyone was okay and made stops as needed. There are "taxi" services in the form of motorcycles available along the mountain for those who absolutely can't make the hike or just don't feel like hiking to the top or gets injured (which is reassuring). The first half of the hike was quite easy...but last half of the hike was gruelling. Lots of rocks, steeper ascent and obviously you're starting to get exhausted! But the excitement of reaching the summit also starts to build up to get you to keep going. We got to the top in about 1hr 45 min, making it to the top by 5:52AM. We were a bit worried because it was so cloudy at that point that we really couldn't see anything. But lo and behold....when the sun rose everything just dissipated and you can see Mt. Abang and Mt. Agung in a distance plus the other Mt. Batur peak. It was a collective gasp of breath from everyone at the summit when the sun came up. Then our guide prepared us hard boiled eggs cooked with steam coming out of the fissures of the volcano. The cherry on top were the monkeys! Friendly monkeys who take food from you when the sun rises. Overall it was just an amazing experience. We made our descent at about 7AM and was at the bottom by 8:30AM. So a few tips I wish I'd known:
    1. Use the toilet before climbing...as much as you want to stay hydrated know how much you can drink without needing to pee for the next several hours. There are rented bathrooms along the way but they charge money for them and they're not maintained.
    2. Wear layers...it'll start cool-ish, then you warm up, then the weather warms up, then it gets extremely cool as you reach the top and when you sit you're freezing your ass off. So layer up.
    3. Take it all in. Take pictures but also take it all in.
    4. Respect your guide and the local people. They're working hard to make this an experience to enjoy for everyone and some of them climb this mountain everyday to make a living.
    5. Try the hot spring...we regretted not doing it.

    Enjoy!

20% OFF Mt. Batur Volcano Sunrise Trek / Private Path Hike

20% OFF Mt. Batur Volcano Sunrise Trek / Private Path Hike I got picked up on time at 2:30am from Ubud, the driver didn’t mind all passengers fell asleep. When I met the guide, he was so attentive and make sure all of us doing fine till the spot.

I was there join with a group of 3 person. One of girl and me unable to walk fast. The guide was walking pretty fast. The guide did hold and support two of us sometimes. Made me feel safe. The breakfast (eggs, toast, and chocolate bar) had provided were great. But drink need to be paid in extra. They will provide seating mattress if the benches are wet.

The only think I don’t like of my guid is he smoke. I was busy gasping for breath while hike uphills. He likes smoking during resting points and on the top of the mountain. His secondhand smoking does affect me.

I had booked hiking pole and received confirm letter from the team. However, I didn’t get one one the day.

20% OFF Mt. Batur Volcano Sunrise Trek / Private Path Hike

20% OFF Mt. Batur Volcano Sunrise Trek / Private Path Hike Ok -- I didn't want to get up that early either, but it was seriously the highlight of our trip to the Ubud area. You will not regret it. It was a tougher hike than I expected, and maybe that added to the beauty once you reach the top
