Hello! I'm Hiroyo.
I was born and brought up in Shizuoka. After living in Tokyo and in England to attend a university and to work, eventually I came back to Shizuoka. I have been living here with my family including my two children, for many years. I’m now enjoying working as a licensed tour guide in Shizuoka.

I love classic music, especially piano music. I don’t think I’m not a good singer, but I’m sometimes called a “sing a song ”guide. I will be always happy to welcome you!
I also have been interested in Japanese traditional culture. I used to be in a Kendo(Japanese fencing) club and a Japanese flower arrangement club when I was a student. I got a certificate as a Japanese tea instructor as well and I’ve had a lot of opportunities to be a guide for many guests including tea-lovers coming from overseas. It would be my great pleasure to help you find out more about Japanese culture!

Take a Trip to the Outskirts of Mt Fuji in Shizuoka

Take a Trip to the Outskirts of Mt Fuji in Shizuoka Hiroyo not only took us to an amazing tea plantation with views of Mt. Fuji, Yamataka Sakurai, the owners of the farm, Mr. and Mrs. Sakurai were so gracious and nice. Mr. Sakurai built a beautiful lookout point that looks great surrounded by the tea plants. We had tea leaf tempura which we picked (the first shoots were coming out, so very lucky occasion) and a variety of freshly brewed delicious tea. We learned how to serve tea properly for multiple people and had the chance to peek into the tea processing warehouse. As a tea lover, I was very happy with this experience.

Hiroyo also took us to a Shrine and taught us how to enter it properly, pay our respects and everything about imagery and customs. We then went to lunch at an award-winning yakisoba place nearby and then to a great sake brewery from which we wanted to take everything.

Along the way to all these places, Hiroyo taught us a lot about Japanese culture with visual aids and songs. I'm truly grateful to her for that. Her English is also very good as she went to college in the UK.

    I highly recommend this experience!

Take a Trip to the Outskirts of Mt Fuji in Shizuoka

Take a Trip to the Outskirts of Mt Fuji in Shizuoka Even though the weather on the day wasn’t great, Hiroyo made it extra special for us. We’ve met at the Shinkansen exit at the Shin-Fuji station and took two taxis from there. During the day we’ve visited a very friendly tea farmer family where we picked tea, ate at drank all kind of delicious tea products (without being forced to buy anything), had some tasty lunch, visited a quiet temple, enjoyed some sake tasting after an interesting tour and finished it all off at the Mt. Fuji World Heritage Centre. Hiroyo not only had a lot of local knowledge, she also told us stories and even sang a song for us. Communication before booking and then adjusting the booking to our needs was quick and uncomplicated. We can highly recommend it!
