Description

Sampran Riverside is a half a century old family-run property about an hour drive from Bangkok. All gardens and the 10-acre farm at the property are certified organic which came after over 7 years of hard work when we first started to venture out in organic agriculture together with the local community. Upon arrival, we meet at the hotel lobby for a short briefing before we begin the adventure. Itinerary for the day 10.00-11.30hrs Begin the culinary adventure with a short boat ride across the river to our property’s very own organic farm which is certified organic to IFOAM and EU standards. In the tranquil grounds of the farm, learn about the vegetables and herbs commonly used in Thai cooking and pick these ingredients for your cooking class. Also sample homemade herbal teas and sample season fresh fruits. 11.30-12.30hrs Proceed to an antique Thai house amidst a certified organic herbal garden to start your Thai cooking class. Learn the techniques from a local experienced chef and prepare 4 popular Thai dishes: ‘Pad Thai’ Stir-fried Thai Noodles, ‘Som Tam’ Raw Papaya Salad, ‘Kai Yang’ Grilled Chicken, and ‘Tom Yam Kung’ Lemongrass Soup with Prawns. 12.30-13.30hrs Proceed to Inn Chan Restaurant to enjoy your own cooked dishes and the chef will prepare 3 additional dishes for a full course Thai set lunch (food only): Stir-fried Organic Vegetables with Chili and Garlic, Massaman Curry with Beef and Stuffed Omelette. Steamed Jasmine Rice and Coffee/Tea are included in the meal. 13.30-14.15hrs Free time to take a leisurely walk through our chemical-free botanical gardens and explore a variety of native species of herbs and flowers including organic roses. All our gardens are certified organic to IFOAM and EU standards. Some time for shopping for handmade handicrafts and local souvenirs or elephant riding before making your onward journey.
