Hi, I am Michio and I am happy to be a host of Voyagin. I would like to meet and talk with people and I'm looking forward to meeting visitors from all over the world.

I have been working for a multinational FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) company, my responsibility was consumer / shopper understanding. We had to conduct a series of consumer / shopper understanding study before we launch a new product in Japan and this was my specialty. Now, I would like to share a part of my experiences of Japanese consumer / shopper through this Voyagin activity since it will help foreign visitor to understand Japanese people. With this understanding, I am sure they can have a fruitful stay in Japan and enjoy their visit more.

I went to University in US and married with a lady from Hong Kong. We have 2 children and they have their own family.

I like to visit oversea’ countries, I especially like South East Asia. I like to cook and eat. My favorite cooking is BBQ now. I also like to go hiking in the woods.

I wish all the visitors can enjoy their trip in Japan and the best way to enjoy their visit is to understand Japanese people, I believe. I also like to be a friend with visitors and understand their culture.

Great way to learn while you explore!

Our host was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating! While you can figure out some of the differences between your culture and the daily routines in Japan, there are so many nuances that having a guide such as Michio provides a unique opportunity to learn. We went up and down one of the largest shopping streets in Tokyo, and in between learning about the differences between our culture's shopping habits and Japan's, Michio also helped us look for some specific items we had been searching for. What a great experience! Thank you very much!

A fascinating window into Japanese society

I had a great time on this tour. Michio was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. With his expertise and deep understanding of Japanese consumers, this walk around a shopping arcade became a fascinating journey through so many aspects of contemporary Japanese society. I had a lot of questions from my travels in Japan and previous reading and Michio had answers to all of them, unique insights and personal stories you can never get from a guide book. After all the tourist attractions and historical sites in Tokyo, if you fancy a window into the real lives of Tokyoites today then I highly recommend this tour.
