    Lived to see another day

    This was our first time eating the deadly fugu, and we managed to survive. We went with the 33,000 yen course menu, and were so full. It seems like we each had half a fish prepared for us in various ways: sashimi, fried, hot pot, and porridge using all parts of the fish: flesh, skin, roe, etc. The fish was very light in flavor, with a slight chewiness to it, much like 'hirame' (flounder), and sadly I didn't feel any of the toxin to remind me how dangerous this fish is -- it must be that the chef is so good at preparing it.

    The service was excellent too. Our English speaking server explained everything in detail to us, along with answering any of our questions. And at the end of the meal, he and the chef saw us out the door and waved goodbye.

    A great experience!
