Highlight of my trip to Japan!
When my initial choice wasn't available, Voyagin concierge staff recommended Taku and handled the reservation for dinner. The chefs spoke decent English and provided a really personal experience. The food was absolutely incredible and the staff provided excellent sake recommendations throughout the meal. There was a steady parade of food, but I didn't feel rushed. Absolutely recommend both Voyagin and the restaurant!

Very high quality fish and kind host. I thought the dinner was a little heavy on the sushi side, in particular because the pacing was so rapid. There were also some very loud customers in one of the rooms whose boisterous laughter was distracting, nothing was done about it. That said, these factors didn't detract much from the very high quality food.
We've tried many places from low to high fidelity but Nishi-Azabu Taku has by far been the best experience. Despite the unrivalled taste and texture of all the pieces, the chef was more than courteous and explained every course (in English) — when he notices you're left-handed and places the Wasabi on the right side, you know you're in good company.
Given the length of the dinner, this is also the best bang for the buck one will find. We'll stop by again for sure.
Delicious and friendly
I'm new to the Michelin sushi dining scene (although not to fine dining) so I was worried about other places that seemed less friendly to English-speakers.
Overall this place was wonderful. The sushi chef and staff were all very friendly. English was passable enough for communication (I really just want to know what I am eating). Food was wonderful. Very reasonable price for omakase. Ice cream dessert (5 flavors) was incredible.
Thank you for making this booking on such a short notice. Food and service was worth the 2 Michelin.
Delicious Modern Sushi
Wonderful food and chef. The place can be a little hard to find, and I was lucky to found the restaurant with the help of some local people. If you planning to go, go a half hour early to hunt down the restaurant. Once I arrived the staff was nice and the restaurant was small but comfortable. I was served by chef Yukinori Iehisa who was very friendly and has amazing knife skills. He served a journey of sushi as well as seared and pickled sushi. There were a good mix of traditional sushi as well as modernized version. Although his English was not fluent, he use a little book with fishes to explain the ingredients along side the dish, which is very cute =) At the end of night, both Chef Satoh and Iehisa showed me the way to the main road to catch the trains. I am truly grateful to their hospitality. Will definitely visit again next time in Tokyo.
Nashu-Azabh Taku exoerience on September 16, 2016
My wife and I had a great expirience in Taku. Mr. Satoshi Ogura was our chef. He was excellent-- whatever we tried was the state of art. His uni were out of this world!!!
He was very polite, spoke very good English and explaned us everything about each item on his omikase menu including showing pictures of every fish that he surved. He even met us outside the restaurant and let us out of the door at the end to the cab. We had an unbelievable experience, highly recommended!!
