Anyone and everyone is welcome, whether traveling or living in Japan – and of course, native Japanese individuals interested in experiencing Japan's fascinating local culture are more than welcome to take part as well!
What you need to bring
1. Clothes (and shoes) that can get dirty. 2. Something that you'd like to dye! (Small handkerchief for dyeing provided and included in participation fee. If you have something else you'd like to try dyeing, feel free to bring that along as well!)

Born and raised on Amami Island of Kagoshima Prefecture, Shota relocated to Tokyo upon graduating from high school. He is currently a graduate student at Keio University where he researches Social Innovation as it relates to the role of Japan's rural island cultures in modern Japanese society. He also regularly assists on projects for the Rito Keizai Shinbun, a newspaper distributed throughout Tokyo focusing entirely on the life, culture, social issues, and celebration of Japan's island cultures.
