Very fun and informative!
Satoko was an amazing tour guide!! We are so happy we had her to show us around the busy market! She is very informative and we learned so much about the market and the history of it as well. The tour was split into 3 areas: the fruit and vegetable area, the fish market and also the area where all the food vendors are located. We also made a pit stop at the Shrine and learned the origin and meaning of "itadakimasu"
The fruit and vegetable area was pretty calm, all the beautiful foods and vegetables were packaged waiting to be sold or auctioned off. We saw a bunch of different produce that we've never seen before and was surprised at how much of the produce is imported from all over the world.
The fish market was busy and there was so much to see. We're so glad we had Satoko to show us around because it can be intimidating navigating the chaotic market. We have never seen tuna so fresh before. We got to try fresh fish cake and dried squid samples. Delicious!
The food vendor area was probably our favorite part of the tour. We got to sample dried grasshoppers, dehydrated plums, matcha cookies, dried seaweed, tuna and whale sashimi and clams! Everything was so good! Satoko gave us restaurant recommendations for places to get sushi after the tour. Highly recommend this tour!! :D
Awesome Tour! Highly Recommended!
We loved Satoko's tour! We highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to go to the fish market. The tour is great value for your money, much less expensive than the other fish market tours and just as good! She takes you through a tour of the vegetable section and the fish market, and explains about the different types of fish. She is very knowledgeable about the market. She also takes you through a tour of the outer market and recommends good sushi places (that are not touristy!). We liked her so much that after the tour we invited her to eat lunch with us at her favorite sushi restaurant. It was one of the best meals of our trip.
Great Tour with Satoko!!!
We learned a lot about the market and saw a lot of hidden places!!!
And sushi was absolut great!!!!
Great morning spent at fish market with personable & friendly guide
Our guide made the tour of fish market fun & interesting. Bought some yummy produce, daughter got to hold an octopus, and we even got a great tip on where to go buy a specific baseball item we were looking for. Super helpful and knowledgeable.
Many thanks to Satoko for sharing her knowledge, enthusiasm and time with us! The Fish Market and Vegetable Market tour was a great length of 2 hours, and she went out of her way to introduce us to some traders, take photos and find the best stalls to visit...without her we would have been totally lost, and have missed so much detail regarding the Markets...my best advice is sign up to see this magnificent institution before its gone!! Tour guide was changed last minute and not great
I chose Satoko's tour specifically because all the glowing reviews. A day before the tour I wrote to Satoko to confirm our tour and she advised that we will be assigned another tour guide as she already had more than 5 people joining that day. I booked this tour two months prior and Satoko never mentioned that this would be the case.
The other tour guide was not a tour guide by profession and she didn't have knowledge about the variety of the seafood at the Market and history of the place. We joined the tour specifically for these two components. If we knew, we better off visited the Market by ourselves as this was how we felt throughout the two hour tour.
Great tour of the inner and outer markets, with a tour guide 2nd to none. Had a wonderful time and the sushi recommendation afterwards was beyond amazing!
We had a great time with Satoko!
Educational Experience with Satoko! So Much Fun!
Do not miss out on all the wonders of the Tsukiji Fish Market. I debated for months if I should book a tour guide to the gigantic fish market, reading a lot of reviews. I am glad I did my research and decided to book a tour guide with Satoko. The Tsukiji Fish Market is very busy and very big. I would highly recommend booking with Satoko for first time travelers to Tokyo. She brought us through the tight space of the fish market. With Satoko leading the way, I felt very safe and was able to see every type of fish that was brought into the market. Satoko also brought us to places where we can sample some fresh food for free. I even tried whale sashimi! Satoko is an experience chief as well, so she knew all the fish and vegetables that were sold at the market. She was wonderful! She made our day at the Tsukiji Fish Market enjoyable. Worth the price! Highly recommend! Do not be that traveler that think you can tackle the Tsukiji Fish Market on your own, or else you will be missing out on a lot of awesome fish!
