I feel very sorry that not many local restaurants in Japan are convenient for overseas visitors because of very few English menus and English-speaking staffs:(
I have many local Japanese members who would love to help them to enjoy various Japanese dishes at izakaya restaurant with chatting about each other's country.
Izakaya is a Japanese common style restaurant to enjoy dinner and sake, and a place of social gathering for Japanese people to go with friends or coworkers after work.

Great night of Sake and Conversation
Not such a good photo but a great night, Toko and Hiromi took me to a very nice Sake bar where we tried a range of different Sakes and some Japanese food - it was great to visit a place I would have never found myself and try new things. We had a great conversation too, thanks a lot!
Great trip! Great time!
Everything was wonderful, it felt like getting together with old friends!
A must do if in Tokyo!!
This experience caught our eyes because we LOVE izakaya and we wanted to have a local experience during our travels. Not only did we go to an incredible izakaya restaurant that we never would have found on our own, but our hosts were 2 incredibly cool guys! We had lots in common and the night was full of fun and laughter. It was a perfect matchup! The restaurant specialized in high quality free range organic chicken. The dishes were very unique and TASTY! The menu wasn't in English but thanks to our new friends we ordered the best stuff! We enjoyed our hosts so much that we all became Facebook friends. We hope they will both come to our home city so we can show them a good time here it return! Thanks Takashi and Yosuke!!!!
Best Experience of my Trip
Wow! Definitely the best part of my trip. Keisuke was such a fun dude and we had an awesome time. Learned so much of the japanese culture and we hit up 2 izakayas
Grest way to exchange culture!
My host Satoko was another nice person. She made a reservation at a very cool izakaya. She asked me what I ate and I told her "everything". So she ordered us up some nice dishes. We spoke in both English and Japanese and she helped me learn some more phrases. We talked about Japanese vs American culture and our backgrounds. It was a very enlightening experience and it was good to have dinner with someone from the area. Definitely recommended!
One of the highlights of our trip!
We met up with Momoko and Yoshi and had such a great time! Very interesting, kind and pleasant people that went out of their way to make a memorable experience for us. The food and drink was delicious and the conversation even better! We had such a great time and felt that we made new friends that evening. Would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for an authentic Japanese experience.
Must do experience!
I can't praise Tadashi enough, he was a great person to meet. He took me to a little place in a basement to try Horse Sashimi. Not only that's something I wouldn't have done by myself, he also taught me how to eat it and how to order other things in Japanese.
He also offered an extra bit of his time to show me around a Buddhist temple on the next day, which was also very interesting. We will definitely keep in touch in the future.
Thank you to the entire team of volunteers!
A great night!
We had dinner with Toko and her friends Erika and Hiromi on our second night in Tokyo, at an izakaya in Ginza. We had a great time with them and got to try a number of Japanese dishes we had never had before! There was plenty of good sake too. Toko and her friends also gave us lots of tips on where to go in Japan. It was a great night! Thank you!
Met Kazu and his colleagues. It was the most fun i have had while I was in Japan. Highly recommended.
