We at Mat-Cha-Doh provide Japanese cultural experiences centered around Cha-do, the way of tea, said to be the epitome of Japanese culture.
We focus on Matcha, the main item of Cha-do and its amazing powers.
- Tea ceremony class: Go on a journey to free your mind through the ritual of tea!
- Visit to Doien tea shop – Includes green tea sampling
- Visit to Hachinoya traditional Japanese confectionery– Includes japanese sweets sampling
- Visit to Japanese ceramics and pottery shop (Optional Plan）
Guests can participate in a tea ceremony class at a tea master's home, followed by visits to Japanese specialty shops of green tea and wagashi (Japanese sweets). You will enjoy Matcha (ground green tea) and wagashi at the tea ceremony as well as a sampling of various green teas and wagashi at the shops.
Here are the details of the tour:
Meet at Toritsu-Daigaku Station. Welcomed by an English-speaking interpreter.
Participants take a short car ride as they are guided to classroom.
Tea ceremony class: Go on a journey to free your mind through the ritual of tea! Enjoy the finest quality green tea and traditional Japanese sweets from famous confectioneries. Try out for yourself the unique and fun Japanese way of making green tea. Learn about tea utensils, hanging scrolls, and the etiquette of flower arrangements.
Walk from the tea ceremony classroom to a tea shop.
Visit specialty green tea and Japanese sweets shops. Souvenirs are available for buying!
Doien tea shop - Includes green tea sampling! Participants are taken to this shop specializing in green tea, a commodity now experiencing a worldwide boom due to the increasing interest in healthy living and Japanese food.
Hachinoya traditional Japanese confectionery – Includes japanese sweets sampling! Participants are taken to this specialty Japanese confectionery, which creates beautiful traditional sweets carefully prepared by artisans with selected ingredients.
Tour ends at Toritsu-Daigaku Station.
Interpreter escorts participants to station.
Participants take a short car ride as they are guided to ceramics shop.
Visit specialty ceramics shops. Souvenirs available!
Gallery Yakimono Naganawa Japanese ceramics and pottery shop.
Participants are taken to this pottery shop carrying a vast selection of tableware suitable for use in the tea ceremony or with Japanese cuisine (now a registered UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage).
Tour ends at Gakugei-Daigaku Station. The Interpreter escorts the participants to the station. The participants walk along a charming shopping district to the station.
