We knew that the Robot restaurant was a must-see after watching it on Anthony Bourdain. We found the price was quite steep and over rated considering the amount of resources that went into signage around the neighbourhood. It was ok, if you are looking for something to do that you won't see anywhere else and have money to burn, go for it. If you are on a budget, don't feel bad about skipping it. Performers were great, the show was very weird, but this is not a restaurant.
Lots of fun !
The show itself was really crazy, with lots of flashing lights and so much fun. I loved the action and the performance. Waiting in the Gold room before hand starts the mood and settles everyone in. However, acouple of low points- when we went to get our 'free drink' which we thought would be anything, the bar tender was pretty rude and and unkindly showed us the small selection we could choose from. The bento box wasnt anything special and we could have skipped. Difficult to move around in your seats (and to eat) because its very small and your virtually touching the people by your side. BUT all in all we got the experience we wanted 'crazy techno japanesey' and the positives out weigh the negatives.
The show is totally crazy but its a great experience. The costumes and dancing are fab and everyone had a great time.
Worth every dolllar
It's like nothing you've seen before. Very entertaining and a must of you're ever in Tokyo!
This is a must-do in Tokyo! So much fun! The staff is great, and your cheeks will be sore from smiling and laughing so much over the next few hours! You will remember this experience forever and have so many entertaining photos to share with friends and family. Be advised....the restaurant is in an area full of African men who try to coerce you into strip clubs or massage parlors. While these touts don't appear dangerous or threatening, they are annoying and persistent. There are numerous stories online about bait and switch nightmares that happen if you follow these men into such establishments, so just be careful. Otherwise, the Kabukicho area is interesting and fun to walk around.
touristy but still fun - skip the food
I'm glad that we saw this crazy thing, just to say that we have done so. It was definitely colorful and unique, but also seemed pretty expensive for the length of show, and the food was just not tasty - I'm sad that we squandered a meal here when we could've eaten much better for the same price outside of the show.
