I’ve been practicing Japanese calligraphy since I was 5 years old and today, I hold a teaching license in the art. After getting married, I decided to start my own calligraphy class – in which I currently teach 20 people every week. In addition to teaching, I also do large-scale calligraphy performances using over-sized brushes and large-scale canvases. I hope to popularize Japanese calligraphy and Japanese culture through my teaching and performances.

A fun actvity
Realising that I was nervous about finding her home Yunagi kindly came to a nearby hotel to collect me.
I would have liked some explanation about the tools we were using - the ink, the brushes, the paper. And perhaps a little about the history of calligraphy.
However one lesson is a very short time and whatever the project, it cannot be very complicated if we are to produce something to take home.
It was an enjoyable activity and Yunagi was very sweet and very patient.
Nice presents to take home
Nice experience and the teacher is nice and friendly. This was perfect for creating some presents for friends and family back home. The place itself is a little difficult to find, so I suggest you make sure that you have google map access.
Great teacher, very patient
Great teacher, very patient - clearly has taught calligraphy for some time and knows her stuff! My only disappointment was that I didn't get the souvenir I actually wanted and paid for. I wanted the bell, but had to settle for a fan as that was the only option [afterI had arrived]. Her house isn't easy to find though - I was significantly helped by google maps. I dread to think where I'd have ended up without internet!!
The workshop was very nice and we made nice gift to give to our family as a souvenir.
Beautiful and Unique
Yunagi is very sweet and I had a great time learning the proper techniques for painting my very own Kanji. I opted to paint on paper so I could frame it and hang it up when I got home. I'm very happy with how it turned out.
My only issue was finding the location. Japanese addresses are very confusing for me so I got a little lost and ended up late. Make sure to ask for more specific directions if you are directionally challenged like me.
I thought calligraphy was difficult to learn but Yunagi-san was very welcoming and patient in teaching the steps until i gain confidence. Yunagi-san is definitely a professional! Thank you for the great experience! I will be sure to attend the class again!
Yunagi is a kind and patient teacher and you definitely shouldn't miss this experience. I am looking forward to seeing her again next time:)
Very nice teacher and fun lesson
This was fantastic, our family took this class and loved every minute of it.
Would highly recommend this.
