Gion Nishikawa in Kyoto-shi, Kyoto is a traditional Japanese restaurant which has the Michelin 2-Star. Soon after the restaurant opened in 2009, it gained its first Michelin Star. Chef Masayoshi Nishikawa honed his cooking skills in the famous restaurants "Gion Sasaki" and "Gion Hanagasumi" in Kyoto before opening his own restaurant.
In summer, the meal begins with a cold dish. In winter, the meal begins with a warm dish. Nishikawa's motto is to "have a wide entrance, have a high exit" - he offers dishes that anybody can enjoy, and are so enjoyable that customers hesitate to leave.
The vegetables used in Nishikawa are Kyo-yasai (Kyoto vegetables) and the sea foods used are picked in various regions in Japan.
There are 35 seats including counter seats, table seats, low (Japanese style) table seats and private rooms are also available and at the counter table, you will be able to enjoy watching the chef cooking. Gion Nishikawa is open every day except Sundays, Mondays' lunch time, Mondays after a national holiday on Sunday, under the following schedule:
12:00 - 15:00 (12:00 L.O.)
18:00 - 20:00 (20:00 L.O.)
