Key Information

Description

If you’re visiting Hiroshima, there’s no better and easier way to explore the city than by its famous sightseeing bus! The bus runs along three different routes, all beginning and ending at JR Hiroshima Station. In between, you’ll have the chance to stop by the city’s major attractions — from various museums, shopping districts, a World Heritage site, and more. Hop on and off for as many times as you like during the day, and discover Hiroshima’s cultural and historical heritage that continues to draw visitors from all over the world. With a departure point right outside of JR Hiroshima Station, this bus is perfect for those traveling by a JR rail pass or catching a shinkansen. Whether you pick the orange, green, or lemon route, all buses will pass by the UNESCO World Heritage site of the A-Bomb Dome and the Peace Memorial Park. The A-bomb Dome belongs to the former Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall. After the atomic bomb in 1945, it was one of the few structures to remain standing. Along with the dome, the Peace Memorial Park is home to various monuments and museums that give tribute to Hiroshima’s unique and indelible history. History aside, you can be sure to see much more of Hiroshima with the sightseeing bus. For art-lovers, the bus stops by three different art museums. Hiroshima Museum of Art exhibits a mix of French Impressionist paintings and Japanese paintings from the post-Meiji era, while the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art focuses exclusively on contemporary art. The Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum showcases Important Cultural Properties from Hiroshima, folk art by local artists, works from Central Asia, and more. For shopping galore, Namiki-dori Street, Hatchobori, and Kamiyacho are Hiroshima’s popular shopping districts, filled with everything from large department stores to small retail stores. You can also stop by cultural sites such as the staggering Hiroshima Castle and the historic Toshogu Shrine, dedicated to the first shogun and unifier of Japan, Ieyasu Tokugawa. To see more of Hiroshima’s reconstructed shrines and temples from its history as a castle town, stop at Futabanosato Historical Walking Trail. The 10-kilometer trail connects sixteen religious buildings in one easy route. Book now for a full day of city adventures with Hiroshima’s sightseeing bus!
