Key Information

Description

The Michinoku Coastal Trail is an epic route that meanders alongside the majestic Pacific Ocean coastline. It unlocks dynamic ocean views, sleepy fishing communities, and a range of diverse landscapes from windswept sandy beaches to verdant hills, to pine forests fringing the rocky coastline. This tour is a leisurely private group hike suitable for all ages, with ample time to stop and learn about the unique culture, history and scenic beauty of the region. Drinks and snacks are provided along the way. Starting at the Tanesashi Kaigan Information Center, this two-hour guided hike shows off a wealth of compelling sites across a diverse landscape. The Trail winds its way along the Tanesashi Coast, where the Tanesashi Natural Lawns stretch above the water, offering a dramatic contrast of emerald green with the deep blue of the Pacific Ocean. It is an incredibly serene beauty spot. The Trail also meanders through a fragrant pine forest, offering a contrast to the bracing sea breeze. Passing a series of dramatic rocky headlands, the trek leads to the famous 'singing sand' of Osuka Beach. The fine sand at Osuka makes a high-pitched squeaking sound beneath your feet, which is said to be proof of the sand's pristine condition, containing few impurities. Waves gently lap the shoreline, and the broad arc of sand offers sweeping ocean vistas. Osuka is designated as one of Japan's top 100 beaches. On return to Tanesashi Fishing Port, it's time to sample some fresh delights from the ocean's bounty. Here you'll feast on a fisherman's lunch with friendly locals. Expect a tasty seafood hotpot and a spread of sashimi (sliced raw fish) made with seasonal ingredients, such as uni (sea urchin) and ikura (salmon roe). Coffee and dessert are served after lunch to round off a perfect experience. Menu: - Drinks and light snacks on the hike - Sashimi and seafood hotpot - Dessert - Coffee
