We limit our tours to 3 times a week in order not to disturb the nature and the people living in the village. Give fireflies the time to rest and continue their reproductive cycle.
The fireflies can be seen all the year. If it is raining, we need to wait for a while until the rain go away. There will be more fireflies coming out. It will be a great experiences and adventure.

Hello there, my name is Apni. I was originally from Java, but have lived in Bali for 18 years ever since my university days. By day, I am a researcher and expert in Animal Husbandry, but by night, I am an active member of my community in Bali. There are few female guides in Bali, but I hope to be the guide who can introduce this beautiful country to you. Looking forward to meeting you!

A magical experience
We did the fireflies tour with our guide Koko. It was absolutely magical walking out under the stars seeing the glow of the fireflies in the fields and hearing the crickets and the frogs. Koko was a very friendly and personable guide and gave us some interesting facts about the fireflies.
Koko does great things for the local community, teaching local children English and buying art from them to give as gifts to his customers. Part of the money on this tour gets donated to helping the local community.
At the end of the tour, Koko took us to a local cafe for some delicious Cassava chips and tea/coffee and gave us some beautiful Balinese artwork as a gift. A unique experience that I would highly recommend!
A magical evening with the fireflies
First and foremost - the main even, watching the fireflies was really magical. We could see them dozens at a time flying over the rice fields. We could inspect them up close and hold them in our hands. In addition to the fireflies we saw ducks, frogs, and bats flying overhead.
I would recommend wearing hiking boots rather than flipflops. When walking in the grass our feet were covered in small little ants that bite, which was really distracting from the peacefulness of the experience. Another note is that from the event description I was expecting the trip to be led by Apni and have dinner together, but she sent her student Made (who is a super nice guy and knowledgeable himself). The food at dinner wasn't anything special (we had the fish) but the setting of the restaurant was quite nice and it felt like a local joint, away from the tourist hustle of Ubud.
In summary, I would totally recommend this trip to others, but would just adjust my expectations a little.
Perfect in every way!
We had the most amazing experience visiting the fire flies while on our honeymoon in Bali. Our tour guides were the most lovely people we have ever met and made our experience wonderful. Thank you very much x
Adrian and Amanda's firefly trip
Amazing tour. We got to visit great beautiful quiet areas to see the fireflies. We have never seen a more interesting insect. The guides were extremely friends and taught us so much about the culture and religion here. We have been to Bali many times but we learnt more in one night than our last few trips. Great experience highly recommend
I really enjoyed catching the few fireflies we could find. Can't believe how small they are. Unreal!
Made and Apni were great hosts and took us to a fabulous restaurant called the Sawah Indah.
Recommended! Take a fleece for the end of the night though :)
Intimate experience finding fireflies
Great tour. Went for dinner first, then went to several locations to search for fireflies. We saw plenty of fireflies and other nocturnal creatures. Never felt rushed at any point. Guides took time to show us and explain. Well worth doing, especially if you've never seen fireflies up close before.
A night stroll to remember
For someone living in an urban city all my life, i've never come across fireflies. Jumped onto this opportunity to see these amazing creatures. The tour didn't disappoint. Started with a lovely dinner, Balinese style, beside the padi fields. Enjoyed the atmosphere, the fresh air and the food. Our guide, Made, drove us to 3 different locations to find the fireflies. It was amazing, seeing them fly around with a natural lightbulb, lighting up the darkness. We also walked along the padi fields, with the background of the beautifully moonlit sky, pretty clouds, the silhouette of Mt Agung, the sounds of crickets, frogs and nocturnal animals, while enjoying the unpredictable yet amazing sightings of the fireflies. We learnt alot about the fragility of these animals from Made, and along the way, getting to know interesting bits about the Balinese culture, history, religion and people. Kudos to Made for making this an interesting and educational tour! I love how it is so private, without the noise and crowd from a large group. If you have an evening/night to spare in Bali, highly recommended to go for this tour with Made :)
Beautiful and educational
The tour was a mix of exciting, educational and beautiful. This is definitely for people who don't mind getting a bit muddy, as there was a bit of climbing around rice fields in the dark.
Koko and Wayan were fantastic hosts who are really knowledgeable and passionate and Balinese culture and sharing it with others.
Definitely recommend for people who want a unique experience and want an up close look at how the locals live.
Great night experience with a touch of local culture
This was a wonderful experience with a funny and well knowledgeable guide.
We stopped in 3 places, saw fireflies, walked around some farmer fields, learned about the local culture, templates, farming, irrigation, traditions in Bali.
