We limit our tours to 3 times a week in order not to disturb the nature and the people living in the village. Give fireflies the time to rest and continue their reproductive cycle.
The fireflies can be seen all the year. If it is raining, we need to wait for a while until the rain go away. There will be more fireflies coming out. It will be a great experiences and adventure.

Hello there, my name is Apni. I was originally from Java, but have lived in Bali for 18 years ever since my university days. By day, I am a researcher and expert in Animal Husbandry, but by night, I am an active member of my community in Bali. There are few female guides in Bali, but I hope to be the guide who can introduce this beautiful country to you. Looking forward to meeting you!

A magical evening with the fireflies
First and foremost - the main even, watching the fireflies was really magical. We could see them dozens at a time flying over the rice fields. We could inspect them up close and hold them in our hands. In addition to the fireflies we saw ducks, frogs, and bats flying overhead.
I would recommend wearing hiking boots rather than flipflops. When walking in the grass our feet were covered in small little ants that bite, which was really distracting from the peacefulness of the experience. Another note is that from the event description I was expecting the trip to be led by Apni and have dinner together, but she sent her student Made (who is a super nice guy and knowledgeable himself). The food at dinner wasn't anything special (we had the fish) but the setting of the restaurant was quite nice and it felt like a local joint, away from the tourist hustle of Ubud.
In summary, I would totally recommend this trip to others, but would just adjust my expectations a little.
Perfect in every way!
We had the most amazing experience visiting the fire flies while on our honeymoon in Bali. Our tour guides were the most lovely people we have ever met and made our experience wonderful. Thank you very much x
Adrian and Amanda's firefly trip
Amazing tour. We got to visit great beautiful quiet areas to see the fireflies. We have never seen a more interesting insect. The guides were extremely friends and taught us so much about the culture and religion here. We have been to Bali many times but we learnt more in one night than our last few trips. Great experience highly recommend
I really enjoyed catching the few fireflies we could find. Can't believe how small they are. Unreal!
Made and Apni were great hosts and took us to a fabulous restaurant called the Sawah Indah.
Recommended! Take a fleece for the end of the night though :)
Great night experience with a touch of local culture
This was a wonderful experience with a funny and well knowledgeable guide.
We stopped in 3 places, saw fireflies, walked around some farmer fields, learned about the local culture, templates, farming, irrigation, traditions in Bali.
The Best Tour Ever
We didn't we would get a chance to see the fireflies up close.
And the weather was so nice and chilly that night, it was an added opportunity.
Our tour guide, Made speaks fluent english and made the tour more fun.
The restaurant that he brought us for dinner serve super good food with a reasonable price.
He also helped us out in the ticket booking to Gili when we asked him about how to get there.
Made was indeed a helpful and experience fireflies.
He made the tour so perfect and wonderful.
Will introduce this tour to our friends when they go to Bali in the future.
We really enjoyed this tour. The fireflies were amazing to see. My 3 year old son really enjoyed the experience too and was excited to see a rice farmer in the fields! Both our guides were extremely knowledgable about the area and the fireflies. A tour definitely worth doing.
Planned for a long time and didn't disappoint
The tour was amazing and the hosts were also awesome. Great English and passionate about their work.
Seeing the first firefly was breathtaking.
We also learnt about culture and farming practices along the way.
Food was great at the restaurant before.
Also, the hosts are fabulous with children
Amazing experience! Started the evening off with dinner at a local restaurant overlooking rice paddies. Delicious food and a breathtaking view of the sunset. When it got dark, we visited 3 different sites to search for fireflies. We were not disappointed! Beautiful experience. Our guides were so warm, friendly and informative. This tour is highly recommended :)!
Made and Apni were amazing hosts! The dinner we had was beautiful, I had the crispy chicken and my partner had the crispy duck. It was our first time trying duck and it was delicious. The restaurant was set outside with ponds of fish surrounding us, the setting was very romantic. We headed to three different spots to find fireflies, the first we only saw a couple and my partner wasn't really getting into it at first. When we hit the second spot there were more and we got some and captured them in a bug catcher. But the third spot was really breath taking.. There were tons of them everywhere! They lit up the trees like christmas lights, and my partner was out there with Made hunting them down and bringing them back to Apni and I to put in the bug catcher, and some of them even started mating in there! It was a really amazing site and my partner and I enjoyed it more than we thought we would.
