The hike itself is quite hard, but worth every step! Had an exclenent guid who took us at our own pace, spoke good English and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Got to the top about an hour before sunrise, had a nice breakfast cooked in the hot steams and enjoyed the spectacular views as the sun came up! This has been the highlight of my trip so far
Great and unforgettable experience!
The guide was friendly and helping us alot. Although reaching the mountain peak was nearly impossible and exhausting, but the view and the overall experience are worthy.
great guides, awesome view, perfect weather.
Not to be missed! Be sure the weather will be clear, however......The guides were excellent and took very good care of us. The path was private as advertised--we saw no other tourists until arriving at the summit. Views were spectacular. This trip will be a cherished memory of my time in Bali.

Worth all the effort!
First thing to note is that I'm a wimp and any physical challenge is hard for me. For the people I hiked up with, they had it good. I swear this girl I was with was like the terminator! Haha
The climb was tough and it did exactly what I wanted it to do--make me believe that there were things harder than a heartbreak.
Getting to the top however flushed out every once of exhaustion I felt. The view was incredible. The sunrise was pretty good too even if it was the rainy season. You are also rewarded with a yummy breakfast at the top. You don't always get to have breakfast with a breathtaking view.
The hike down is slippery but very scenic. You'll enjoy it as much as you'll enjoy the peak.
I also booked the hot spring package--relaxing after a hard hike was just lush.
Also, shoutout to the guide Ketut who helped me out SO much! Wouldn't have survived without him. And also to my other guide and the driver for being so patient while I relaxed my heart out at the hot springs.
Definitely recommend this tour for groups and even for solo travellers like myself!
You get up really early, and it is a moderately intense/steep hike up, but it is worth it. The light had started to show and I was concerned we would miss the sun rise, but we made it to the top just in time to really see the sun rise.
It gets pretty warm since you're being active, but once you're at the top, the wind (and your sweat) cools you down very quickly, so I recommend bringing layers, and perhaps some mittens to keep you warm.
I added on the hot springs option, and I thought it was worth it. The hot springs resort was gorgeous, relaxing and had a beautiful backdrop of the mountain.
I would highly recommend this trek.
Everything went well, awesome experience!
Helpful and enthusiastic guides.
There were 4 of us for this hike, and our guide, Ketut, was extremely helpful and enthusiastic, especially when the hike got tough for us amateurs. He was extremely patient with us and encouraged us to take our time and was very helpful with picking out the easiest path for us. All round great experience, and 100% worth the effort (and almost tears). The view was spectacular and a spectacular guide just elevated the experience. 10/10.
It was an incredible experience but would not recommend for low fitness. Need at least a moderate level of fitness for this trip and at the very least sneakers. However the tour guides were lovely, spoke good english and helped anyone who was struggling along the way. We followed the hike with the hot springs and it was an absolutely perfect way to relax your muscles after such a hike. Cocktails in the pool at the hot springs just completed the experience! Would absolutely recommend in a heartbeat to those with good fitness!
We had a blast climbing Mt Batur! I'm really glad I wore my hiking boots because having shoes with good grip makes the climbing easier for the rocky parts. The guides were super super nice and super helpful.
The breakfast is good and you see monkeys on the way down and they're cute.
The early wake up, the challenge, the fun!
I had a brilliant time doing this trek. I booked it as a solo traveller and was a little nervous initially about whether I'd be able to do it, etc, but from the outset got to hang out with some really nice people and the tour guides were excellent at making sure everyone had a smaller group to do the climb with. I'm not going to lie, it was challenging, but I found it easier than expected on the way up. I think you do need to have a reasonably good level of fitness and flexibility but only if you want to race to the top like I did. Otherwise, if you need more time, the guides will ensure that they wait for you and help you to reach the top (or to get down, which felt a lot steeper as it was in the daylight!). I just wore trainers but they could have done with more grip, like hiking/walking shoes and ankle support. The view from the top is outstanding and I loved the hot chocolate, eggs, bread and fruit to recharge us for breakfast (but bring some money for the hot chocolate!). They supply water and torches but bring some loo roll if you're a girl and might need a wee... I also only needed a light jacket with me (which I didn't even end up wearing) but check the weather before you go. I'd definitely do this climb again with this tour supplier!
