Description

While you might come to Bali to see the sights, one of the most memorable and unique experiences you can have is a one night stay with the locals to experience our rhythm of life. As I have always been excited to showcase my village to guests, I've created an overnight program as follows to give you a taste of what it is like to live in an authentic Balinese community: DAY 1: 7pm: Pick up from your hotel for a night in our traditional Balinese house in Bona Village, which is famous for Lontar, or manuscripts made from dried palm leaves. Some even say the famous Kecak dance originated here! DAY 2: The next morning: Have some breakfast in our house, then follow my family to our traditional market for vegetables and meat. You will get a chance to see how we shop for our home-cooked lunch. After the market visit: Learn how to make local Balinese offerings called Canang Sari that we will place in the temple of the house (we do this multiple times a day). After you are done making offerings, we will take you to the rice fields with the men of the village to see how they work (you can also learn to plant rice!) before lunch time. Lunch: a home-cooked Balinese meal. Afternoon: We'll bring you to take a traditional Balinese Dance lesson at one of the dance studios in our village. In preparing for dinner, help us make the ubiquitous Balinese dish called Lawar - made from a mixture of vegetables, coconut and minced meat mixed with rich herbs and spices. It is so delicious that you will surely ask for the recipe! To complete your stay with us, enjoy dinner with us and soak in the camaraderie around the table. 8pm: Leave for your hotel. NOTE: If you are interested to see our village in a day (without the overnight stay), we can still fit all our activities in one day (Day 2's schedule). Just select the correct price on the drop down box to book this.
