Home to the colorful and vibrant Naga tribe, Dzukou valley is branded as one of the most fascinating valleys of Nagaland. Also known as 'The Valley of Flowers', it is situated at an altitude of 2134 meters behind the Japhu ranges in the Eastern Himalayas. Different varieties of flowers from lilies to rhododendrons bloom during the monsoon giving the valley a carpet of flowers.The Dzukou valley offers one of the most captivating spots for bird-watching and trekking in Nagaland round the year. Duration: 5 days Grade: Easy Max elevation: 3014 meters This trek has two itineraries. You can chose between the 5-day itinerary that includes Japhu Peak ( 2nd highest peak in Nagaland) and the 3 day trip that includes Dzukou valley only. Detailed Itinerary: Day 1: Enchanting train ride from Guwahali, crossing rural villages and hills to reach Dimapur town by noon. Drive about 4 hours from Dimapur to the historic Khonoina village via Kohinm. Visit Khonoma fort and nearby villages, interact with locals and experience the Naga way of life. Camp overnight. Day 2: Start trekking and climb steadily for about 4 hours crossing a mountain into Dzukou valley. If lucky, you might spot the colourful Tragopan pheasant, the state bird of Nagaland. Explore the surrounding areas and camp overnight at the Ghost cave, locally know as the bhoot gufa. Day 3: Get up early and drive to Vishwema village and then trek to the base of Japhu peak and camp there overnight. Explore villages and nearby areas and also visit the tallest Rhododendron tree in the world (109 foot) in Japfu range. Day 4: We start early morning and reach Japhu peak after a steep climb to watch the breathtaking sunrise from the top. Witness amazing views of entire Naggaland and surrounding valleys from the peak. After spending some time at the peak we descend through the same route and reach Vishwema and then drive out to the beautiful hill station of Kohima. local sightseeing, in Kohima and overnight stay at hotel. Day 5: We drive to Dimapur and take a train ride back to Guwahati.
