Description

On this half-day tour we take you to a pottery village on the outskirts of West Delhi, where hundreds of Rajasthani potter families create magic with clay. Appreciate their art, learn about their culture, interact with them, and make pots with them :) The sharp contrast between the urban and rural parts of Delhi is easily visible. Simplicity and contentment within the people, as they go along their daily chores, can not go unnoticed. This experience will give you an insight into villagers’ lives: - how pottery is related to Indian culture - the role of women in the community - problems they face - their customs and superstitions Make a difference! This tour is a great confidence builder for potters because they feel good that many people in the world want to see the work that they do. Nine families are directly benefited through this initiative. Moreover, a sizable amount of profit earned from this tour is contributed to a Village Development Fund, which is used for the overall development of the community. We work with South Asia Foundation, an NGO working for the upliftment of the poor using crafts as a tool.
